ORU names new provost

President Dr. William “Billy” Wilson announced Oral Roberts University’s new chief academic officer: Dr. Kathaleen Reid-Martinez.

Her position as provost will be effective Jan. 2, 2014.

She was previously Mid-America Christian University’s provost. One of her strong suits is in the area of online learning. Reid-Martinez was recently published in the Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology (third edition) for her article entitled “Constructivism as the Driver of 21st Century Online Distance Education.”

Reid-Martinez has an extensive background in academic administration. Her academic positions include Lee University associate professor of language arts and communications program coordinator, Church of God Theological Seminary executive vice president for administration and professor, Regent University dean of the School of Government and Azusa Pacific University vice president for nontraditional and experiential learning.

Reid-Martinez received a B.A. in English from from the University of Maryland, European Division; a M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Denver; and a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the University of Denver.
