“I have the first lady with me. We’ve been married for 25 years,” said Wilson. “And I also have some mistletoe.”
After stealing a kiss under the mistletoe before the display of lights appeared, the Wilson’s read the traditional Christmas story, as told in the book of Luke.
After a loud countdown, the lights were powered on, and the student body was able to mingle and enjoy complimentary snacks in the Prayer Garden.
Festive music was performed by singers Max Kutz and Rebekah Fletcher. Kutz and Fletcher sang well-known Christmas songs for the crowd during the evening.
Wilson was able to shake hands and greet the student body in the Hammer Center, after the crowd needed a warm haven.
A couple characters from the nativity scene, including Santa and his elf, arrived for a photo snapping opportunity under the large Christmas tree, now in display at the Hammer Center.
“We have with us tonight, the best president and first lady in this or any parallel universe,” said Ooceeh Afame, Student Association president.
