Lack of offense once again cost ORU as they fall to Missouri State 3-2 in 10 innings.
After a leadoff double by Missouri State Left Fielder Patrick Drake, he was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. The Golden Eagles turned to right hander Jordan Romero.
On the third pitch of the at bat, Romero bounced a ball in the dirt that brought across the eventual winning run.
ORU once again failed to hit with runners on base. They left a total of nine runners on base. Of those nine runners, four of them were in scoring position. They have left a total of 62 runners on base in seven games this season.
The Golden Eagles were also leading in the game before they lost the lead in the 7th inning. Third baseman Brandon Healy hit a two out, two run double to right center field that gave ORU a 2-0 lead.
Senior Pepe Gomez pitched well in his first start of the year. The right hander pitched 5 strong innings, giving up two runs, one of them earned. He also walked two batters while striking out three.
ORU second baseman Matt Brandy continued his hot hitting going 2 for 4, bringing his batting average to an extraordinary .423. Right fielder Tyler Boss has struggled to say the least. The Redshirt senior went 0 for 5 this afternoon sending his batting average to .154.
The next game for the Golden Eagles will be Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., where they will take on Harvard.
