ORU’s volleyball team continued its success last week on the road with two sweeps over Southland Conference opponents.
The first match came against New Orleans last Thursday. Seven of ORU’s ladies recorded kills in the 3-0 victory.
Jessica Pancratz led the way with nine of ORU’s 31 kills, while only hitting one error. Laura Rosa hit four aces, a career high.

The Golden Eagles added another sweep of a conference opponent against Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday.
A four point run finished off the first set for ORU, 25-16. The two final sets were much closer with scores of 25-23 and 25-21.
Rosa and Sara Pope led the team with 11 kills each. Senior Laura Taylor contributed 32 assists. Bruna Silva had 16 digs, a team high. Freshman McKenna Qualls also made an impact on defense with 10 digs and added three service aces.
The Golden Eagles are now 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference, two games better than their 2-2 record at the start of the 2012 conference season.
The two wins increased head coach Sheera Sirola’s win total to 199, only one short of 200 career wins as coach of the volleyball team.
ORU will go for that win at home on Thursday against Stephen F. Austin. The game will start at 7 p.m. in the Aerobics Center.
The Golden Eagles will cap off a home stand on Saturday when they face Northwestern State. First serve of that game will be at 2 p.m. in the Aerobics Center.
