After trailing 41-33 at the half, the ORU basketball team defeated Kansas in a stunning upset at the Allen Fieldhouse 70-63.
This is the first time the women’s basketball team knocked off a Big 12 team since 2004 and it was the first time the Golden Eagles defeated Kansas in the history of the program.
Kaylan Mayberry led the team with a career-high 25 points and had five shots beyond the three-point arc.
Jordan Doyle hit a season-high 14 points. She added three rebounds and three assists as well.
Bria Pitts matched Doyle with 14 points and posted seven rebounds and two steals.
The Golden Eagles only had nine turnovers with none in the second half. It was also second time this season ORU had fewer than 10 in a game. The team made 15 points off 12 Jayhawk turnovers.
Kylee Kopatich led Kansas with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Jayhawks shot 43.5 percent from the field.
The ORU women will begin conference season at Western Illinois on New Year’s Day at 7 p.m. and return home on Jan. 6 to face South Dakota.
