In their last home game of the season, the Lady Golden Eagles confidently took down the Omaha Mavericks 72-56. Not only was it the last and 28th regular season contest for ORU, but it was also Senior night for Faith Ihim and Jordan Doyle.
ORU handled the Mavericks easily, leading the whole game as well as significantly outshooting and out-rebounding them. Maya Mayberry led ORU in scoring with 23 points (going 5-for-7 from the 3-point line), and Mo Bretons had a strong game with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Senior Faith Ihim capped off a very successful career with a triple-double, Ihim will go down in the ORU history books as the 20th player in ORU history to surpass the 1,000 career point mark. She is also the 10th ORU player to have 1,000-plus points and 500-plus rebounds during her career, and she is a candidate for the prestigious Senior Class Award.
Head Coach Misti Cussen had nothing but good things to say, “Faith did a great job attacking the rim tonight… I mean a triple-double tonight, ten assists on senior night… She shared the ball beautifully, played well defensively, and we’re sure going to miss her and Jordan Doyle both.”
With regular season play over for the Golden Eagles, they’ve set their sights on preparation for the conference tournament in Sioux Falls March 3-6.
