Men’s basketball clinches 900th program win, defeats RSU 87-76

Jalen Bradley came in clutch for the Golden Eagles as they finally pulled away from Rogers State in its regular season home opener on Monday night.

“It will go down as a ‘w’ and I think at the end of the year there will be very few people who, hopefully, remember that game,” said Head Coach Scott Sutton. “Give a lot of credit to Rogers State. I thought their kids battled and every year, they come in and play us tough. I know it’s a big game for them to come and play a Div. I game.”

The team finished 87-76 with a shooting percentage of 46.2 from the field. Bradley and Albert Owens led the team with 21 points. Emmanuel Nzekwesi posted a team-high 17 boards.

Rogers State and ORU combined for a total of 35 turnovers and 42 fouls.

“I think there is a lot of things that we can do better and learn from, but we were able to do it with a win,” said Bradley.

Kellen Manek, Spencer Sutton and R.J. Smith will all redshirt and Kris Martin is looking to make his season debut within the next week, per Sutton.

The team will travel to the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam tournament where it will face Ole Miss on Friday at 2 p.m.
