Consistent offensive production gave ORU a 6-2 victory over Southeast Missouri State Sunday afternoon for their first win of the season.
The Golden Eagles were able to score multiple runs in two different innings. They were also able to score early in the first two innings against SEMO pitcher Ryan Lenaburg.
Emmanuel Forcier led the first inning off with a single to left. After a balk moved Forcier to second base, second basemen Matt Brandy hit a single to right to drive in Forcier for the first score of the game.
Anthony Sequeira singled and Logan Domenico was walked, loading the bases. Third baseman Brandon Healy was also walked to force in Brandy and give ORU a 2-0 lead.
SEMO did not have it on offense Sunday. After an amazing output of 26 hits in the first two games combined, they could only put up five hits during the third game. They struck out seven times in the game and left eight runners on base.
Gavin Glanz was a major part of keeping the SEMO offense from getting on track. The right hander kept the Redhawks off balance all day and played over five innings. He struck out four batters and walked only two.
The bullpen for ORU also did a nice job slamming the door on SEMO pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
The two newcomers, Sequeira and Forcier are off to great starts for ORU. Sequeira is hitting .385 with a double and three runs batted in, while Forcier is hitting .500 with five hits and five runs scored.
Second baseman Matt Brandy has gotten off to the hottest start on the team. He is hitting .417 with a homerun and a team leading five RBIs.
ORU’s next game is Friday afternoon. They will be traveling to Lubbock, Texas to take on Texas Tech. Their next home game is Feb. 25, against Missouri State.
