The Oral Roberts Men’s basketball team ended the season earlier than expected after losing to North Dakota State 60-56 Monday night.
The loss is the second time in the last two Summit League Tournaments ORU has been defeated in the semifinals.
“I’m disappointed that we didn’t win, but I thought our guys really competed in the second half and put us in a position to win a tough game,” said Coach Scott Sutton.”
ORU shot 20-52 (38.5 percent) from the field and hit only two shots from behind the arc. Obi Emegano led in almost all statistical categories finishing with 25 points, 8 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Bobby Word finished with 10 points. Brandon Conley had eight with six rebounds. No other player scored more than five points.
The Golden Eagles battled in the second half, cutting into a 10-point deficit and tying the game at the 1:38 mark, but were unable to complete a come back.
“It seemed like we were fighting uphill the whole second half,” said Coach Sutton. “ We had it tied a couple times but couldn’t get key defensive stops.”
ORU caps off the season with an 18-14 record and third place finish in the Summit League.
