ORU ties Houston Baptist

The Oral Roberts Men’s Soccer team ended their Friday night matchup against Houston Baptist in a draw.

The men now hold a record of 1-0-1, making this season the first that ORU has started out unbeaten since 2010.

HBU scored the games’ first goal in the 27th minute on a header from the WAC Offensive Player of the Year, Tobenna Uzo.

ORU responded in the 52nd minute when Johnny Chavez headed the ball into the net to tie the game. The goal was his second in consecutive games. Alex White and Edgardo Mira were given assists on the goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ben LaCourse recorded a career high nine saves in 110 minutes of action.

ORU plays their second game of a four-game road trip on Sunday against Incarnate Word in Dallas, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
