The Golden Eagles (6-5) opened up the Tulsa Invitational with a 3-1 (25-12, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24) loss to the University of Tulsa (9-1) Friday night at the Reynolds Center.
ORU kept the match close for but was unable to make the comeback it wanted.
The Golden Hurricane hit .522 in the first set compared to .034 from the Golden Eagles. The team powered back against TU’s strong defense winning the third set 25-23 with a .306 hitting percentage to force a fourth, but came up short overall.
ORU had 60 digs and eight blocks, but Tulsa managed 72 digs and nine blocks. The Golden Eagles also committed 12 service errors in comparison to TU’s seven.
Laura Milos and Shelby Cox led the team in kills with 21 and 10, respectively. Lucija Bojanjac offered up a game-high 38 assists.
This was Milos’ fifth match of 2016 with 20 or more kills.
ORU will continue the Tulsa Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17 against Louisiana Tech at 9 a.m. and Northwestern State at 4 p.m.
