The Golden Eagle volleyball team started the season at the Oklahoma Invitational against the Sooners on Friday night. Oklahoma swept the match winning all three sets by five or more points.
ORU fell behind in the first set 25-20 but was unable to come back with Oklahoma posting .312 and .394 hitting percentages in the final two sets (25-12, 25-17). The Golden Eagles were outhit .300 to .088 and ended with eight service errors.
Junior Laura Milos led both teams with 15 kills and 42 attacks. Shelby Cox was second in kills for ORU but only posted five. Lucija Bojanjac tied with OU’s Audrey Alford with 28 assists and topped the ORU team with 10 digs. Only three Golden Eagles ended the match with a positive hitting percentage.
The team is looking to finish the tournament and come away with wins tomorrow against UMKC at 10 a.m. and UTEP at 5 p.m.
