The Lady Golden Eagles dominated the game Wednesday night as they trounced Roger State 8-0 in their fifth game of regular season play.
Megan Giles scored the first goal within the first two minutes of play with an unassisted goal from 10 yards out.
Four minutes later, Jennifer Abernathy made a header in with an assist from a free kick by Ashley Martin.
Within one more minute of play, Kayla Keller made an unassisted goal to bring the score to 3-0 in the first seven minutes of game time.
Mary-Kate Halsmer then forced another goal from a cross by Jennifer Abernathy on the end line.
Following a foul inside the box Madison Valenzuela made a penalty kick bringing the half-time score to 5-0.
In the second half, ORU substituted the entire team. It allowed everyone on the team play a minimum of sixteen minutes.
However, even with a majority freshmen team on the pitch, the goals kept rolling in.
Alexia Herrera made a goal 18 minutes into the second half from a cross by Tahlor Lyman that bounced off the left post and landed into the right corner.
Seven minutes later, Hannah Briggs scored off of a cross from the right end line by Megan Guico.
Maria Stordahl then put in the final goal on a break away with an assist from Kristie Wilburn.
Although ORU lead with eight points, no player scored twice.
ORU totaled 36 shots against RSU’s single shot in the second half.
Jennifer Abernathy scored the first goal and lead the team in shots along with Hannah Briggs who let off five on goal shots each.
Roger State’s goal keeper managed to make 12 saves in the game.
