Women’s soccer ties Baylor in scoreless game

The ORU’s women’s soccer defense stood strong against Big 12 opponent Baylor on Sunday. The two teams fought to a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of play.

It was the first shutout for the Golden Eagles this season. Helen Erb played the majority of time at goalkeeper. She recorded eight saves before being ejected on a red card.

Maddie Rhodes picked up where Erb left off and recorded five saves for a team total of 13.

ORU had to withstand a barrage of attacks from the Bears. Baylor outshot the Golden Eagles 23-4.

The Golden Eagles struggled to make anything happen on offense. Madison Valenzuela and Tahlor Lyman recorded the only two shots on goal.

ORU faces another tough opponent on Friday. They will travel to Norman to take on No. 19 Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
