Women’s team dominates Bison defensively

The Golden Eagles smothered North Dakota State Wednesday night in a 67-41 win.

ORU forced 19 turnovers and had 9 steals on the night. They converted turnovers into 26 points on the offensive end.

“Defensively this is exactly where I want to see us at this time of the year,” said Head Coach Misti Cussen. “If you take out the first two minutes of the second half I think we played the best 40 minutes basketball we’ve played all season.”

The Golden Eagles also received a very solid performance from Dorka Balla. Balla scored 18 points and provided a much needed scoring punch.

“I thought we had very balanced scoring, especially in the first half, and a very balanced offensive attack,” Cussen said.

Vicky McIntyre continued her strong play with 13 points and 18 rebounds.   With her performance tonight McIntyre notched her 19th double-double of the season, tying her with Vivian Herron and Elisha Turek for the most in ORU woman’s basketball history.

ORU moves to 7-5 in conference with a 13-12 overall record, putting them back above .500. They will try to find their stride with only four games remaining before the conference tournament.

The next game for the Golden Eagles will be Friday, February 13 when they take on South Dakota St. at the Mabee Center at 7 p.m..
