After knocking them off earlier in the year at home, ORU men’s soccer team lost 2-0 on the road Tuesday night to Missouri State.
Missouri State’s Emmerich Hoegg scored the first goal for the Bears in the 37th minute for his fifth of the season. The goal was the first for MSU in 344 minutes against the Golden Eagles.
ORU missed two shots on goal in the first half, keeping Missouri State’s lead at 1-0 going into the break. Sophomore Ben LaCourse played goalkeeper the entire night for the Golden Eagles and recorded two saves in the game.
In the second half, Missouri State nearly doubled their shots on goal from the first half with five shots. Missouri State’s James Thomas assisted on a breakaway goal to Mikey Lightbourne in the 63rd minute when a ball got through ORU’s defense, giving the Bears a 2-0 lead.
Tarik Salkicic, Jordan Cuckler, and Zari Prescod attempted the only shots on goal for ORU in the match. The Golden Eagles lost the shot attempts battle 8-3.
This is the first time the Golden Eagles allowed a goal against the Bears in the last four meetings between the two teams.
Missouri State’s record improved to 6-3-2 with the win. The loss dropped ORU’s record to 4-4-2 on the season.
ORU will look to rebound Saturday night where they 6-3-2 will take on Fort Wayne (IPFW) at 6 p.m. CST.
