Even with the dropping temperatures, Guthrie Green brings in the crowds, making it the weekend destination spot.
Guthie Green is an urban park that was built to be a shared, economically friendly gathering place. It is an all-in-one park that includes a Dock pavilion, a large lawn, and water sculptures.
The sound of walking through the paths with fallen leaves crunching under your feet is relaxing in itself. It is a sight for sore eyes and a welcomed rest for weary minds.
The park provides free fitness classes to the community on Sundays with its weekly Latin-inspired Zumba class. From 11 a.m. to noon, you can get your sweat on while loosing yourself in the music.
“I thought [Guthrie Green] was really pretty,” said Jessica Fitzgerald, a senior at physical engineering major at ORU. “It would be a really cool place to go to a concert at.”
There are several upcoming events happening at Guthrie Green.
On Sunday, Nov. 30, at noon, the Dye Hard Fan Dash, a 5K run and tailgate party mash-up, will be taking place. There will be live music, a chili cook off and other activities.
The Glow on the Green 2013 Event will take place Sunday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. There will be shopping, entertainment, food and festivities.
Musician Mark Gibson will be performing on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. Gibson’s music is a mix of blues, folk, pop-rock and soul music.
Guthrie Green, located in The Brady Arts District in Tulsa, has all the ingredients of a great outing. Get some fresh air and experience this green, urban park.
